For most people its a "love it or hate it" situation.Combining the power of 2 worlds, thick tones with shred style, legendary Les Paul body with Double Locking Floyd Rose bridge! Now you can do dive bombs with your favourite Les Paul guitar! And it takes some adjusting to get used to the sensitivity of a floating trem. There is definitely learning curve with Floyd Rose. Personally, I'm a fan of the Floyd Rose Speedloader, but still, the fine tuners are positioned the same as any other FR trem. I'm guessing that its the same trem, but from slightly higher quality materials than a Lic., but lower on the ladder than an Original Floyd. Then a few years ago Gibson came out with the Les Paul Axcess, which I’ve played and found to be a nice guitarbut at a hefty price. The Pro-FX trem is called a Floyd Rose Special. I remember Gibson putting a Floyd Rose on a Les Paul in the 80s, as well as Floyd Rose making a system back then that mounted on a Les Paul without all the routing. Its a technique issue.Īlso, the trem on the Pro-FX is pretty much the same design as the Lic. In fact, the guitars I have FR trems on are both strat-style guitars and I still tend to rest my hand on the trem and bend the pitch if I'm not careful. They are just picky.Īs for your hand resting on the trem, going from one LP to another wont solve this dilemma. But that is true of any double locking, floating tremolo. Floyds on them and they seem to work fine without much fuss.if set up correctly. What do you mean by the tremolo being fussy. Also, I should ask what kind of amplifier you play through. Combine that with the cheaper asian electronics and I can see why you may not be satisfied with your guitar. Many people also consider the Floyd Rose tremolo to be a tone killer.
EPIPHONE LES PAUL FLOYD ROSE PRO
The Pro FX features a solid Mahogany back with a highly flamed Maple top and a solid Mahogany neck, hand-fitted and glued for unmatched neck-to-body contact.
EPIPHONE LES PAUL FLOYD ROSE PLUS
Being an asian import, it is common for a company to use lower grade everything - especially the electronics. Utilizing a Floyd Rose tremolo and offering pro-level features, Epiphones Les Paul Plus Top Pro FX offers traditional Les Paul construction and coil-tapping pots for an amazing variety of tones. But that is one thing that can be easily remedied with new electronics and/or pickups. I'm not entirely surprised that you may not be happy with the sound. Sorry to hear that you arent happy with your LP/FR. The licensed Floyd Rose was fussy, and the side of my right hand tended to rest on the trem, causing it to change pitch slightly, and the fine tuners seemed to be in the way (I have an Ibanez with a Pro Edge 3, and the fine tunes are angled back).ĭoes any one here have the new Pro FX LP? If so, let me know what you think!

I purchased an Epiphone Les Paul Studio model with Floyd Rose, but I wasn't happy with the quality and sound. It seems seems to be similar to the Gibson LP Axess guitars ( can't afford a Gibson). I thinking about purchasing the new Epiphone Les Paul Pro FX guitar.
